FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK:

Dear Parents and Guardians:

What a beautiful week we have had.  The weather has been wonderful and we have been able to be outside for recess.  In a year of construction, this is a big deal!  The carnival equipment has begun to arrive already and soon we will have our noses pressed against the school windows yearning for Carnival to begin.  Thank you in advance for your hard work to make this carnival a great success.

The production of “Beauty and the Beast” was wonderful.  Our “small” production was magnificent and our actors were terrific.  Thank you to all who made this magical weekend a great success.

Progress Reports for the final trimester will be mailed out this week.  Be on the look out for this important information about your child’s academic and personal development progress.  If you have questions or concerns, please be in touch with the individual teacher.  We are happy to make appointments to discuss your child with you.

Our gym in nearing completion and plans for our interior courtyard are moving along.  We have purchased a greenhouse which will be installed over the summer.  Our long term goal is for this courtyard to hold the greenhouse, box gardens, and benches.  We anticipate that this space will serve as outdoor classroom for various grades and provide opportunities for science classes from Kindergarten-Grade 8 to study plant life up close and personal.  In addition we hope to create a quiet space for prayer and reflection – an outdoor chapel.  We will keep you informed as the plans develop and are fulfilled.

The Search Committee for the next principal of SPIS has been formed and has met, and has set its schedule.  The Committee is made up of representatives from the 4 parishes as well as representatives from the Archdiocese.  It includes parents, professional educators, and School Advisory Board members. Mr. Jeffrey Lieto is chairing the Search Committee. This committee has already reviewed the pool of potential candidates and has narrowed their search to their top candidates.  The Committee is in the process of interviewing these candidates and expects to have a decision very soon.  I know that you are anxious about this transition.  This Committee has the school community’s best interests at heart as they work on this very important task.  Thank you for your support of this Committee.

Now, on to Carnival – last one on the Tilt a Whirl is a rotten egg!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Gagnon

Carnival Shift Assignments: IMPORTANT -

Ø      Every family should have received their carnival shift assignment. If you have not received your carnival assignment, please email bpannell@optonline..net

Ø      If you have a conflict you need to find a substitute to work your shift.

Ø      For insurance reasons, all substitutes must be 21 years old. If you do get a substitute, please contact Barbara Pannell bppannell@optonline.net.

Ø      Alternates only need to work IF they receive a phone call. If you are an alternate please keep the night open just in case we have an emergency.

Ø      The carnival only closes for dangerous weather. Please plan to work unless you receive a phone call telling you it has been cancelled. Please dress appropriately, it gets chilly.

Ø      Parking is in the church parking lot. You should plan to arrive 30 minutes before your shift and be sure to use the crossing guards.  Check-in is in the cafeteria

Thanks again for all the support!

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST:

Thank you to all of the St. Paul School families who came to the production of Beauty and the Beast. Your support and rave reviews are so greatly appreciated.  The cast worked so hard over an eight-week period and really put on a performance of a lifetime.  It was such a gift to watch them transform and give such wonderful performances.  Congratulations to each and every cast member! A special thank you goes out to all of the crewmembers who helped back stage and were instrumental in making the show a huge success. An even bigger thank you to all of the parents involved in this production. Without your help, dedication, and generosity this show would not have been possible. Finally, we were so blessed to have Kim Galberaith, Jodi Capeless, and Mr. Banyra share their talents with our children and allow them to develop their love of music, theater, and dance. They are truly amazing and a gift to our school!  Congratulations to Ms. Oxley who was the big winner of "Belle's Adventure to the Great Wide Somewhere."
